- DreamTeam - The Oakfield dream team season in conjunction with the Sun newspaper is getting under way. Please see the games room for more details.
- Website Updates - Player Profile page now updated and more photo's have been uploaded onto the bebo site
- Congratulations to Braniel YM who won the summer league competition last week with a very impressive 5 wins from 5 games giving them maximum points. Oakfield finished as runners up thanks to a massive 14-3 victory over Castlereagh Colts helping the goal difference column, but largely down to MPR suffering a shock defeat to Belvoir YM in the final week. All final results and league standings can be viewed on the OAFC forum chatroom.
- 12/06/09 - Andy Henry Testimonial Evening. We are pleased to announce that Friday nights fundraiser for Andy Henry at Molly Browns in Newtownards was a big success. A crowd of over 60 people enjoyed a great night and helped to raise some £450 for Andy. We would like to thank all those who made the effort to attend, and also Molly Browns for allowing us the use of their lounge upstairs.
- A big thank you must also be extended to Braniel YM FC who very kindly donated £50 to Andy. Our two clubs are forging an excellent friendship and long may that continue. Hopefully we will return the favour someday, although preferrably under different circumstances than a bad injury to one of our friends.
- 06/06/09 - Oakfield 7 v 3 Balynafiegh. OAFC got off to a flying start in this years summer league which kicked off on Saturday at Ormeau Park. The 7-3 demolition of Balynafiegh places Oakfield proudly at the summit of the Royston Magee Memorial Summer League Table. Deadly marksman Neale McLarnon stole the show scoring 5 of our goals, with Jonathon Frizelle marking a superb performance with a fine headed goal, and young Curtis Trimble coming off the bench to complete the rout.
- 08/06/09 - NEW SPONSOR (MOLLY BROWNS BAR OF NEWTOWNARDS)
The committee of Oakfield FC are delighted to announce that we have secured a very lucrative 3 year sponsorship deal with Molly Browns Restaurant/Bar of Newtownards. This has enabled us to order our new Nike playing strip which will be all Red, and purchase new essential items for training and matchdays, etc.
The sponsorship will go a long way to helping Oakfield achieve their goal of banishing last seasons ghosts and becoming the best there is.
We would like to extend our gratitude and thanks to the manager of Molly Browns (Kelvin) and Head Chef (Richard Crozier) for all their help and we hope we can now go on to forge an excellent partnership in the coming years.
- 12/05/09 - Oakfield 3 v 1 Braniel YM. A fairly routine victory over a side who have twice beaten our second team in friendlies. Revenge was sweet against our East Belfast rivals as Frizelle, Green, and Trodden put OAFC into a comfortable lead before Braniel top marksman Jonathon Shields struck with a consilation goal. The scoring margin should really have been greater though as we limited Braniel to very few opportunities and were guilty of missing some easy chances in front of goal. Curtis Trimble in particular was faced with a simple tap in to an empty net but somehow completely missed the ball from 1 yard out. The Braniel can also thank their stand-in goalkeeper who pulled off some tremendous point blank saves. I am sure the Braniel will now look to our next meeting in the summer league to get one over us again.
- 29/04/09 - Crossroads 2 v 7 Oakfield 2nds. Hat-tricks for Neale Mclarnon and Gary McGlees sent OAFC en-route to an easy victory in their first official 2nd team match since the league championship winning side of one year ago. The scoreline would have been greater but for complacency setting in. Stephen Lowry struck the crossbar when better placed to score, followed by Stephen Murphy who missed from close range with only the keeper to beat. Mclarnon himself could have scored another couple and with a bit more importance resting on his finishing on another day he would have done. Win Son Wong rounded off the scoring with a simple tap-in to complete the rout. Still very far from the finished article and a fairly average performance with Mclarnon, a regular 1st team player being a one man show for the team at times. The important factor however is that Oakfield 2nds are back.
- 25/04/09 - Braniel YM 4 v 1 Oakfield 2nds. An apology must be extended to Braniel YM as our club had previously committed to fielding our 1st team against them in this friendly fixture, however with as many as 10 regular 1st teamers unable to make it due to prior commitments the club were forced to field a make shift side. Hopefully when the summer league kicks off we can provide the Braniel boys with the test they are looking for.
- 21/04/09 - Sirocco Works 6 v 3 Oakfield. OAFC again did themselves very proud against amateur league outfit Sirocco in this friendly fixture at Dixon Park. The team showed tremendous spirit to come from 4-0 down and peg Sirocco's mixture of 1st and 2nds team back to 4-3. With the boys in the ascendancy pushing for a much deserved equaliser Sirocco managed to break away and deal the final sucker punch to kill the game off. Sirocco coach Phil Cowan will be pleased enough with the test Oakfield put up for them, and at the same time pleasantly surprised at our standard of play. It took our boys most of the 1st half to get to grips with faster pace of play and the step up in standard but with a few more of our key players available on the night we may have shocked our opponents a little more but a very worth while exercise for both clubs and many thanks to Sirocco for the invitation.
- 18/04/09 - Oakfield 3 v 2 Vision Athletic. At long last OAFC did themselves justice and came away with 3 points they more than deserved. This was our first victory over Vision but if we can keep this squad of players together into next seaon we will surely be tough opponents for any side that come to play us. The over riding disappointment now being that the season is over just as we are starting to play again like the Oakfield of last season.
- 11/04/09 - Oakfield 2 v 2 MPR. This performance was a long time in the making, but certainly worth waiting for. At the conclusion of this game against second placed Moat Park Rangers every Oakfield player left the field feeling robbed. We have most certainly seen a vast improvement in our standard of play over the last month and if we can continue this form into next season we will be challenging at the right end of the table once again. The post and crossbar played their part in denying Oakfield a much deserved 3 points, and whilst it was still clear for all to see why Moat Park are a side placed 2nd in the league, even they will will admit to being more than happy with a point. Roll on next Saturday now where hopefully our wee team can finally do themselves justice and beat Vision for the first time in our short history. Green and McLarnon the goalscorers today.
- 07/04/09 - Oakfield 3 v 4 North Down. Another one of those nights for Oakfield with the lads deserving at least a point from this tough encounter at Dairy Hall. Again OAFC led the game for long periods only to let it slip in the last 15. The boys will know they should have had the game wrapped up well before that though as they missed several guilt edge chances just after the break. Failure to kill teams off this season has cost us dearly in terms of our final league position. Jonathon Frizelle, Jordan Stewart, and Neale McLarnon had scored the goals to give us a 3-2 lead, however in the closing stages Jordan Stewart put in a clumsy challenge inside the box to gift North Down an equaliser from the Penalty spot. Then with ten minutes left on the clock OAFC suffered two injuries to key players in quick succession which led to North Down grabbing the winner from a corner kick.
- 04/04/09 - Greenwell 3 v 2 Oakfield. Poor result for OAFC in a match we dominated from start to finish. There was only ever one team in this game and the boys left the field at full time feeling robbed. Some poor decision making by the official referee coupled with slack finishing cost us dearly as we let a 2-1 lead slip.
On a positive note bruising centre forward Jonathon Frizelle notched his first goal for the club as he slammed a powerful downward header into the bottom corner of the net in the 1st half.
- Website up and running again. Due to unforseen circumstances the website administrator has been unable to keep things up to date on the website. The club would like to apologies for this and we will endeavour to get the site operational again from this week in time for an exciting end to the campaign.
- New forum up and running. Check out Oakfields new forums and start posting your thoughts now. Lets re-live the banter of last seasons successful forum.
- Website now recognisable on Google.
- Congratulations to the players who have ground out some vital league wins of late to give the club a great chance of staying up in the Premiership.
- Oakfield 2 v 2 3rd Bangor - A bad day at the office with 2 vital league points dropped at home. From 2-0 up the boys should really have wrapped this game up before the hour mark but missed some guilt edge chances. If we are to remain in the premiership we must start taking our chances and finishing teams off when we have them on the ropes.
- Oakfield 0 v 0 Corrymeela - Another excellent result for OAFC provides light at the end of the tunnel. Manager Marc Frizelle had stated that he would view a point from this tough fixture as a tremendous result and his players delivered his request. The boys seem to be playing with pride, passion, and most importantly, self belief again. Confidence is growing back in the camp now and hopefully we can go a step further now and take something from next weeks game with Vision Athletic. Vision have been on fire this season and will no doubt go into the game as massive favourites but we know that on are day we are capable of matching anyone. A lot will depend upon the strength of the squad next week which unfortunately looks as though it will not be as strong as recent weeks due to injuries, etc. Congratulations to the boys though on this very hard earned and precious point.
- Big Win!! - OAFC secured a massive 3 points on Saturday away to Castlereagh Colts. A win from this game was of paramount importance to the clubs hopes of survival in the Premier League and thankfully the boys obliged. Hero Ross Frizelle emerged from the back waters of football wilderness to grab the headlines notching up his first goal for the club, the first of many claims the club Stalwart who has become an inspiration to generations! Emotions surfaced of the famous moment during the clubs annual Christmas festivities on Sunday evening and Frizelle classed his career first goal in the bracket of the birth of his young son! Many congratulations to Pico who has etched his name forever in football folklore!!
- Christmas Dinner - The Oakfield Christmas night out is scheduled for this coming Sunday night the 21st. The night will begin in the Emperor City Chinese Restaraunt at The Inns at Newtownbreda and continue at Benidicts in town. All players, staff and friends welcome. Hopefully the lads will secure the much needed win on Saturday to add to the enjoyment of the occassion.
- Crunch Time! - This Saturday will see Oakfield take to the field in what could be discribed as the biggest game in the clubs history. The boys know that anything less than 3 points will virtually gurantee relegation from the Premiership. However a win would greatly strengthen our hopes of survival. The proverbial 6 pointer indeed. Our opponents Castleregh Colts currently prop up the table but this means nothing as we all know from the horrible 2-1 reversal against them last time out.
- Cup Draw - We have been drawn away to Ballygowan in the 2nd round of the Sittlington Cup. The 1st division side are no mugs and will not be an easy hurdle to overcome, however, OAFC's form in cup competitions this season has been impressive and we remain unbeaten so far, therefore we should be confident going into the encounter.
- Win at Last - Our impressive cup form remains intact with another good away win against Holywood. After losing five on the bounce in the league we are now enjoying the cup matches as a welcome break from the Premiership. The boys ran out comfortable 5-3 winners at the Blanchflower to secure a place in the 2nd round draw of the Sittlington Cup. Neale McLarnon ran in a hat trick with Captain Andy Hamilton, and substitute Stuart McLees finishing the job. Mclees goal was particularly special as he somehow managed to lob the keeper inside the 6 yard box with a cheeky dink over his head.
- Reminder to all players and staff that this Saturdays Cup match away to Holywood FC is scheduled for a 1.30pm kick off. Everyone is requested to meet at the Elk Inn in Dundonald no later than 11.50am.
- Good news for the club - we have successfully completed the signings of Keith Weatherup and Aaron Holmes today in what could be a massive turning point in our fortunes. After losing young Centre Back Daniel Fitzsimmons to Glentoran in early season we have struggled to find a replacemnt and as a result we have been shipping goals. Keith will slot in now and plug that gap for us and Aaron is just the strike partner Neale McClarnon has been crying out for. With Darren Betty's iminent return and Scott Hamilton due back from the army we should once again be a force to be reckoned with.
- CUP DRAW SPECIAL!! - This evenings Billy Allen Shield Quarter Final draw pitted us against old foe's Ravenhill Young Men. (Formerly Agape II) It will be nice to reignite the banter of last season when our seconds ran them close in the semi final of the cup, narrowly losing 2-0 in the derby match. I will particularly look forward to another slagging match with Legend 5 on the forum. Hopefully this time we can hold the bragging rights over your lot Jason! It could be said that last season the semi final draw was the draw neither club wanted as we would rather have faced each other in the final but this season is different and i think both sides will view this as an excellent opportunity of reaching the last four. Here's hoping we get better playing conditions this time around so that both sides can fulfil their potential on the day. May the best team on the day win the tie!!
- Oafc 4-2 Greenwell Star - Three wins in a row for Oakfield now, and who would have though that just three weeks ago coming off the back of 5 straight defeats! Thats 12 goals in the last three games with Neale McClarnon remarkably scoring 8 of them! After such a morale boosting win, the first home win of the league campaign, Oakfield must now move on to next week and try to make it four in a row. The next opponents Comber Young Men will no doubt see Oakfield as ateam they can beat, but the boys will be full of confidence now going down to Londonderry Park knowing that if they shore up at the back and keep rolling forward the way they have done in recent weeks they can extend the winning streak to four games.
- OAFC vs Greenwell Star - Oakfield take on Greenwell Star tomorrow knowing that a win over one of the most well known sides in the DAFL will see them climb level on points with 3rd Bangor and North Down and Leap Frog thier opponents and Comber Young Men, this would be a welcome boost for the boys who have endured a difficult start to the season. Manager Marc "Flash" Frizelle has almost a full panel to chose from for the first time this season with ryan Crowe returning from suspension, David Lowry remains on the treatment table and Phil "twin" Kincaid is unavailable due to work commitments, but given the amount of players missing so far this season to have only two out is somewhat of a luxury to Flash, who will have no trouble motivating the boys for a must win clash.
- WEBSITE UP AND RUNNING AGAIN - The website is in the process of recieving some much needed updates. The squad list is updated as is the league table and leading scorers (someone has to catch Neale!!). I will try and get some match reports on in the coming days.
- Andy Henry - Sadly it has came to light after some X-Rays at the Ulster Hospital that our 1st team goalkeeper Andrew Henry has sustained a bad break to his right leg during our game with Bangor on Saturday. Results pale into insignificance when things like this happen. All our thoughts our with Andy who will be a big loss to our team and we wish him a speedy recovery.
- Bangor Rangers 3 v 1 Oakfield -
- Civil Service II. 1 v 3 Oakfield - Our finest pre season result so far which makes the horror show at Dunmurry a distant memory. A fine victory against Amatuer League side Civil Service in a game we could easily have won by double figures. Spirit in the camp is high now ahead of Saturdays big Premier League kick off. We must aim for nothing less than 3 points in order to hit the ground running.
- Oakfield 7 v 3 Ballynafiegh YM - A far from convincing display but yet another win for the club. We very rarely get beaten and long may that continue. Tuesday nights trip to Civil Service will be a real test though and should show us exactly what condition we are in.
- Season 08/09 - The fixtures have been released for the new season and we could not have asked for a tougher beginning to life in the Premier League with our first six games including North Down, Moat Park , Rosemount Rec, Comber Rec, Portavogie Rangers and our first game being away to Bangor Rangers on the 16th of August. We have two midweek games to play on Wed 20th and Wed 27th. A full and detailed fixture list including dates and venues will appear both here and on the home page shortly. The Billy Allen Shield 1st Round will be a repeat of our 1st League game against Bangor Rangers, but is a home tie for OAFC. The seconds league season will get under way on the 6th of September.
- Civil Service - We have secured a lucrative friendly against Civil Service 2nds for next Tuesday night. We will need our strongest 14 available to us for this game so all players let your places of work know in advance that you may need out slightly early. First of all though we must try to overcome a strong Ballynafeigh side this coming Saturday afternoon.
- Belvoir YM 1 v 5 Oakfield - Another comfortable win keeps the ball rolling and morale high as we come closer now to the start of new league campaign. We plan to have possibly two more pre season friendlies combined with a few more training nights and the team should then be in fine tune for the big Kick Off.
- Ballygowan 0 v 8 Oakfield - OAFC certainly got back to winning ways with this impressive away win. The club were also able to get a look at a host of new signings who all slotted in very well. With the flurry of recent friendlies coming in thick and fast it was decided to give the players a rest this week and return to training instead. Tuesday and Thursday night with our next friendly taking place on Saturday away to Belvoir YM. We must be pleased with our pre season programme to date with plans coming together very well both on and off the pitch, the only blight being the heavy defeat at the hands of Dunmurry.
- Dunmurry YM 7 v 0 Oakfield - A learning curve indeed as a rampant DYM ran all over OAFC. It must be noted however that we played out the remaining 30 minutes with ten men and lost some key players to injuries early on. Concentration now turns to getting back to winning ways on Saturday at Ballygowan.
- Oakfield 5 v 3 Rosemount Rec - Another very good win for the club keeps pre season morale high. This was a very tough game and OAFC had to dig deep and battle hard. Credit to all involved.
- Oakfield 5 v 2 Castlereagh Colts - Preparation for the new season could not have started any better. With the strong wind creating very difficult playing conditions, OAFC still managed to turn in an encouraging performance and run out comfortable winners over their Premiership opponents. Attention now turns to what should be two very tough midweek games against DAFL giants Rosemount Rec, followed by our visit to Amateur League side Dunmurry Young Men.
- Fixture Change - Our opponents on Saturday 19th of July will now be Castlereagh Colts as Brentwood had to cancel due to a prior commitment.
- Another Friendly has been confirmed. We will take on DAFL powerhouses Rosemount Rec on Tues 22nd of July. Venue to be confirmed. 2nd Team.
- Training - We have decided to step it up to two nights a week now as well as friendlies. The reason being that we are coming closer to the beginning of life in the Premiership and 2A respectively. Check the home page for details.
- Friendlies - We have agreed times and dates with two clubs for pre-season friendlies. Check the home page for details. Further matches will be arranged and announced here shortly.
- Training - Will be this coming Tuesday night the 15th of July at Henry Jones. 6.30pm
- PRE SEASON TRAINING - OAFC pre season programme will begin this coming Sunday 6th of July. Weather permitting it is planned that we have a light training session on the beach at CRAWFORDSBURN - 4.00PM followed by a match. A BBQ will be lit and beers opened at the conclusion of the session. This is more of a get together to discuss the new season and get everyone signed up before the deadline. It will also be the perfect opportunity to introduce our new signings to the club so lets have a good turn out please. (Exact times and details will be passed to everyone via text message from S.Lowry, A.Murphy or M.Frizelle. They will also be announced on here nearer the time) All new comers reading this are welcome
- Season 07/08 - Thankyou and congratulations to all involved at the club on a highly successfull first season in existence. For the club to win a league championship and have both the 1st and 2nd teams win promotion to higher leagues is an unbelievable achievement. Hopefully with a more solid structure off the pitch next season to suppliment our success on it this club will go from strength to strength and challenge for more silverware in 08/09 season. Our trophy haulage to date includes the Division 2B league title won by our 2nds, The Ashfield 7-a-side tournament trophy won by our 1st team, and The Belvoir Charity Cup won by an Oakfield select of both 1st and 2nd teamers in which we defeated Belvoir YM 4-1.
- Our preparation for the new season is already under way and we have signed 5 quality new players to bolster what we already had. Our search continues for a new 1st team manager and this must now take preference over all. We have ordered our new Nike playing strips and the players will indeed look well as they take to the field in pre-season.
- I am also delighted to announce that we secured a major sponsorship deal with RJ Patterson & Sons Plumbing & Heating. We would like to thank the Elk Inn for their support during last season but we felt with them being a massive organisation under Wine Inns they could not provide us with the time and dedication we require to be successful. I know Mark Patterson will come in and sort things out for us and hope to introduce him soon to those who did not meet him at our recent player of the year dinner in the Park Avenue Hotel. We must go on record and thank Mark for his contribution to date before the season has even started, he has already sponsored all of the trophies at the dinner and bought the club two excellent new playing strips with the promise of much more to come. I think you will all agree this is just what our club was crying out for. Many thanks to Mark Patterson.
- All that remains to be said is we look forward to seeing you all back in pre-season to begin preparation for our assaults on The Premier League and Division 2A respectively. All training dates and pre season friendlies will be announced here. Enjoy a well deserved break lads!!
- 10/05/08 - Oakfield 4-2 Stranmillis. Three points for Oakfield today ensures that we finish third in Division One, in what has been a memorable first season in existence. Finishing third in the table this season means that Oakfield will go up into the Down Area League Premier Division next season, where they will join Div One champions Vision and Belfast Deaf United. It should be stated that the league are yet to officially confirm that three teams will be going up, although at this stage it is virtually certain that this will be the case. Coming hot on the heels of the second team winning 2B, all the players should be extreemly proud of thier achievements this season and we hope to see you all back next year to have a real go at the Premier Division and 2A respectivley.
- 19/04/2008 - Oakfield 3-2 8th OB/ Oakfield II 0-2 Agape II (Reserve Team Cup Semi Final). Oakfield II's quest for league and cup double glory ended on saturday against Agape II's the winners of 2A who must now be favourites to complete a double of thier own. Oakfield had most of the play in the first half but could not break down a well organised Agape rearguard. The second half was more even as OAFC ran out of ideas in the face of a solid Agape side. Agape showed just why they are the best reserve side around, as the game was ruined by windy conditions which didnt allow either side to really play football, but the 2A side adapted more efficiently and will feel they deserve thier place in the final with Oakfield knowing they just fell short on the day.An impressive comeback saw the 1sts record yet another valuable win in their hunt for promotion. Two goals in the last five minutes from Jordan Stewart sealed the points from 2-1 down.
